What is TEDx?

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is called TEDxCU, where x = independently organized TED event. At our TEDxCU event, live speakers will spark deep discussion and connection with the audience. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are independently organized.

What is TEDxCU?

TEDxCU is a project of the College of Media, Communication and Information and the Department of Communication. This is a student-driven project with undergraduates from across campus who are responsible for all of our events from beginning to end. We host our annual mainstage TEDxCU event (think of a typical TED talk) every spring, while also hosting several TEDxCUSalons throughout the academic year. We even host a simulcast of the TED Women conference in November, in addition to the official TED Conference every spring. We are committed to helping spread ideas that can transform our communities.

Be Involved

The character trait that unites all TEDxCU organizers is curiosity. If you are curious about the world and want to find ways to make the world a better place for everyone, join us! About 50 students participate in TEDxCU throughout the year, with Executive Committee applications accepted each spring semester and general committee applications accepted during each fall semester. Any CU student can be involved! Typically, only juniors and seniors are selected for the Executive Committee, while our other various committees consist of undergraduates ranging from first-year students to graduating seniors. If you’re interested, email the faculty advisor, Jeff Motter

If you want to be involved, follow us on social media and come to our events. Introduce yourself to the team and show us that you love TEDxCU as much as we do!
